The Learning Common is home to over 180 computers, of which 81 are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on Level 2. The computers are made available in various configurations including stand up 'counter style' for quick access to check emails etc., 'classroom mode' for teaching and self study use and 'group study mode' for when you are working on a group project. The Learning Common is also a wireless hotspot: study benches with power are available so you can fire up your laptop.
You will find that the Learning Common seating arrangements reflect student needs as well, whether it be study related or just for hanging out and catching up with friends. Casual, booth and group seating arrangements are all in place and there are even two tutorial rooms that students can use for project work.
We have also gathered together some of the key support services for students. The First Year Experience office, Student Learning, the Printroom and the Library Reference and Loans desks are all located within the Learning Common. And not underestimating the value of a good coffee to get you through the day, both Sir Walter's and Kadjininy cafes are within easy reach.
After the Library closes, the 24/7 area on Level 2 is accessible from the ECL Courtyard using your student or staff card. |
