Linking to Full Text: SFX Find It
About SFX Find It
SFX Find It links your search results to a variety of additional options, including:
- links to the full text of an article
- links to the Library Catalogue to see if the book or journal artcle you are seeking is held in the Library
- links to web search engines
- links to additional services such as document delivery and Ask a Librarian.
Using SFX Find It
buttons appear in the Library Portal and selected library databases including Expanded Academic ASAP, ProQuest, Scopus and Web of Knowledge. You can also use SFX Find It from your search results in Google Scholar and Scirus.
Click on and a new window will display:
Linking to Full Text
- If the full text of an article or book is available, the links will be displayed first on the menu. In this example, full text is available via Expanded Academic ASAP and Informit A + Education.
- Click on the
button to connect to the full text. If you are using the Portal from off campus, you will be asked to enter your Murdoch Username and Password again.
- In the full view of a record in the Library Portal you may also see a
button next to the button. This will link you directly to the full text of the article, bypassing the Find it screen.
If there is no full text available
The menu will display the message: No electronic full text available.
- Use the link to Murdoch University Library catalogue to check if the book or journal article you are seeking is held in the Library.
- If you don't find the item at Murdoch, check other WA Library Catalogues using the links provided.

Click on the More Options link to see other possible services:
Download to EndNote
If you have EndNote software on you computer, you can use this link to export the record directly to your EndNote library.
Request help from Ask a Librarian
Ask a question using chat or email.
Submit a document delivery request using LIDDAS
This link will only appear if there is no electronic full text
available.
Document Delivery is available to staff and postgraduate students, and to other students in some circumstances. Registration is required. Please see Document Delivery for details.
Find related information using Google Scholar
Find It will search for the article title or book title. To search for an author choose Author from the dropdown list then click Go.
Find related information using a web search engine
Find It will search for the title in the selected search engine. Sometimes you can find the full text item using a web search engine. You might also find related information so this link is useful even when there is a link to full text.
SFX Find It in Google Scholar
SFX Find It links will show in your search results when you search Google Scholar on campus.
- SFX Findit next to the title shows that electronic full text is available. - click to see the SFX Find It menu.
- SFX Findit below the record details indicates that electronic full text is not available - click to see other SFX Find It services. Use the link to Murdoch University Library catalogue to check if the article you are seeking is held in the Library in print.

If you are off campus, you will need to set your Google Scholar preferences to use Murdoch's SFX Find It service.
- Go to Google Scholar and click Scholar Preferences.
- In the Library Links search box search for murdoch.
- Tick the checkbox for the option Murdoch University Library (SFX FindIt)
- Click Save Preferences
When you select a SFX Find It link in your Google Scholar search results, you will be prompted to login using your Murdoch Username and Password.
SFX Find It in Scirus
You can set up your search preferences in Scirus, a science-specific search engine, to show the SFX Find It button in your search results as indicated in the image below.
You need to set the preferences on your computer for the yellow SFX Find it button to appear. When you click on the button, if full text is available, you will be linked to the article. If full text is not available you will get a message indicating this.
To set up the preferences follow the instructions below:
- Go to Scirus and click on Search Preferences.
- Click on Enable (library partner links).
- Choose Murdoch University Library from the list.
- Click on Save Preferences.
Citation Linker
If you have the citation or reference details of an article, you can use the Citation Linker to find out if it is available online.
Enter as many details as possible, then click on the Go button. You must enter at least a journal title or issn. The SFX FindIt menu will open with links to fulltext if available, as well as links to check library catalogues.
