End of access to Swetswise (December 2005)
Access to the Swetswise database will cease at the end of December 2005. The Library provides many other options for simultaneous searching of journal titles including The Library Portal and subject specific databases. If you have previously used Swetwise as an alerting service, there are a number of services you can use in its place. See the Alerting Services link on the Databases page.

Irene Greenwood Book Launched (December 2005)
On Thursday 8th December 2005, Murdoch University hosted the launch of a new book, Voice for Peace: The Spirit of a Social Activist Irene Greenwood 1898-1992 by Kaye Murray. Research for the book made extensive use of personal letters and other material donated to the Library by Irene Greenwood. Extended Opening Hours (November 2005)
Murdoch Campus Library will be open from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Saturday 12th November and Saturday 19th November. The Library will also remain open for full semester hours until the end of trimester assessment on 2 December.

30 Years of Collecting (August - November 2005)
To commemorate the founding of Murdoch University in 1975, the Library is creating a series of displays reflecting 30 years of collecting at Murdoch. The displays on level 3 of the Murdoch Campus Library will include a key work for every year from 1975 – 2005 in specific subject areas.

Pride Month - Celebrate Diverse Sexualities (October 2005)
Murdoch University together with the Student Guild are celebrating Pride month in October. The Library has put together a display on gay, lesbian and bisexual material including books and journals. More info...

Extended Opening Hours to Continue (August 2005)
The Murdoch Campus Library will once again remain open until 11.00 pm Monday to Thursday during second semester. From 9.00 pm onwards, the Library operates as a study hall, with access to collections, computers and photocopiers, but with no desk, phone or email services. Extended weekend hours will also continue. Check here for full opening hours

Oxford English Dictionary Online (June 2005)
Lost for words? The latest update to the Oxford English Dictionary Online includes more than 2700 new and revised words. Find OED Online and other dictionaries on our Electronic Reference webpage.

Database Trial: Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS) (June 2005)
EOLSS is a compendium of sixteen encyclopedias which presents a comprehensive, authoritative, and integrated body of knowledge of life support systems. Explore EOLSS and other databases being trialled by the Library.

Rockingham Library Update (June 2005)
Service at Rockingham Campus Library is almost back to normal. Access to the seminar rooms on Level 2 is still unavailable, but a number of computers have been provided outside the eLibrary. Please contact the Library on 93607068 for details.

Extended Opening Hours During Exams (June 2005)
The Murdoch Campus Library will open earlier on Saturdays during the exam period. Opening hours for 11th and 18th of June only will be 8.00am to 5.00pm

Special Collections: The John Clements Collection of Oral History (May 2005)
The Library has received a collection of oral histories from the oral historian and peace activist, John Clements. The collection includes interviews undertaken from the 1950's to 1980's with a broad range of people from politics, the media, arts, the labour movement and various social movements. More info...

SFX FindIt: Linking You to Full Text (Apr 2005)
The Library is implementing the SFX Find It service within a number of its databases to make it easier to find the full text of journal articles. You can now link to full text when available using the SFX FindIt button from your search results in Proquest, Inspec, Web of Science, CSA Databases, Webspirs databases and ScienceDirect. SFX FindIt is also available from within the Library Portal. More on SFX Find It.

Oxford Reference Online Updated (Apr 2005)
Oxford Reference Online has been updated to include new illustrations, timelines, books, and editions. Updates include the new title A Dictionary of Modern Design, and new editions of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, A Dictionary of Computing, The Oxford Dictionary of Idioms and A Dictionary of the Bible. Explore more than 120 dictionaries and reference titles covering all subject areas.

The Murdoch Campus Library will remain open until 11.00 pm Monday to Thursday during first semester. From 9.00 pm onwards, the Library will operate as a study hall, giving access to print collections, e-libraries, self-check borrowing and photocopiers, but with no desk, phone or email services. Weekend hours have also been extended to 10.00 am - 5.00 pm, with the first two hours as a study hall. Check here for full opening hours.

Problems with pdf files (Mar 2005)
Many of the documents on the Library's website, including exam papers and Electronic Course Materials, are in pdf format. If you experience problems viewing a pdf document, check here for hints.

The Library Portal – a New Way to Find Information (Feb 2005)
Search up to 10 databases and catalogues at once and link seamlessly to the full text of journal articles using The Library Portal. You can also set up your own lists of favorite resources to search, save your searches and records, and set up email alerts.
