2008 Library Client Survey
About the survey
Every two years Murdoch University Library conducts the Library Client Survey. The survey instrument used in the 2008 Library Client Survey is produced by Insync Surveys (incorporating Rodski Survey Research). Insync was contracted to conduct a survey of Murdoch University Library clients so that their views, ideas and suggestions could be considered as part of our commitment to improvement.
The 2008 Library Client Survey was conducted between 13 September and 5 October.
Objectives of the Library Client Survey
- To identify, prioritise and manage the key issues affecting clients
- To allow the Library’s performance to be measured and monitored over time
- To provide clients with the opportunity to communicate openly and honestly with the management team
- To compare results with other university libraries in the database so that performance can be measured against external standards
The Survey process
All clients of Murdoch University Libraries were invited to participate in the survey anonymously online. There were a total of 37 statements considered critical to the success of the Library and clients were asked to rate each statement for importance and performance on a scale between 1 and 7. In addition clients provided demographic information; were asked to rate the overall quality and their overall satisfaction with the library services; and givn opportunity
In total 1206 responses were received – an above average number in the context of Insync library surveys and sufficient for a high degree of confidence in the results obtained.
The results were analysed by Insync Surveys who subsequently provided a Library Client Survey Report; and an Analysis of Verbatim Comments.
