Introduction

Course Materials include reading material identified by your lecturers as important for your Unit. Course materials may be in electronic format, or held in the Library’s Reserve Collections.

Finding Material for your Unit

All available course materials are listed in the Library Catalogue under Electronic Course Materials & Reserve. While many unit readings are available on ECMS, we recommend that you do buy your Unit Readers: copyright compliance means that not all readings can be digitised.

Accessing Electronic Course Materials

• Electronic Course Materials are available to Murdoch University staff and students only.

Electronic materials will be listed in the Library Catalogue with other material available for your unit. If an electronic copy is available the following message will appear next to the catalogue entry:

ELECTRONIC RESERVE -- --

To access an electronic document:

• Select the record from the list on the screen
• Select the link Access: (filename)
• A copyright notice and login screen will be displayed. Enter your student number and Password, and click on the SUBMIT button.

Finding Printed Material in Reserve

Reserve Collections are located on North Wing Level 3 of the Murdoch Campus Library, the Vet Library, the Rockingham Regional Campus Community Library, and the Peel Education Campus Library.

Printed material will be listed in the Library Catalogue with other material available for your unit.

Borrowing from Reserve

• Only Murdoch students and staff may borrow items from the Reserve Collection.
• Two items may be borrowed at a time for two hours.
• Some Reserve items are 3 Day Loans, these are non-renewable but can be requested if on loan.

To borrow, take the item you want and your library card to the Reserve Desk.

Overnight Loans Murdoch Campus

Most Reserve items may be borrowed overnight. Items may be booked for overnight loan, please arrange in advance with Lending staff.

You can collect items for overnight loan during semester at the following times:

Items must be returned before 9 am on weekdays and before 1 pm at weekends (2 pm in Vet Library).
