Alerting Services in Law
Keep up to date with:
Registering to receive alerts means you will receive email
updates on a regular basis. In many cases you can select journals,
jurisdictions, courts or subject areas relevant to your interests. Some alert
services need you to visit their web site
regularly instead because email notification is unavailable.
The following are either free or free to Murdoch staff and students through
Murdoch Library subscription.
Legislation alerts - WA & Commonwealth
State Law Publisher - WA legislation
- Information Bulletin
Subscribe using form on left of the screen. Email
sent every Friday afternoon containing details of changes to all
Western Australian Legislation.
- Alerts for individual Acts or Regulations need to be made once you have
worked through the
A-Z Browse screens. Once you are viewing a section of an Act or regulation
click on the "Notify me when this title changes" link and
fill in the form.
- ComLaw "Notify
me when…" (Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department)
Search for legislative information in selected databases. Use these search
terms to set up email notification for
updates to this search. For instance if you were setting up a notification
service for the changes to the Family Law Act you would check the appropriate
boxes and type (altTitle family law).

Cases hot off the bench are emailed to
you twice daily, each business day. You can subscribe to this service to be
notified about the latest cases in all Australian jurisdictions or the jurisdiction
of your choice. *Case summaries removed at the end of each day? each week?

A free daily email briefing of the key
developments in your chosen field, sent as headlines to your desktop, with
links to the full story. Legislation updates, rulings from the Commissioner
of Taxation and ASIC, and case information are included in the alerts.

each business day: It contains a list of legal news headlines, short case

Publisher alerts -Table of Contents (journals)
Publisher alerts generally include the tables of contents of recent journals
and in some cases links to the full text article.

related to the law. Updated daily, the database lists journal issues received

IP Australia provides a number of email lists
to keep users up to date with recent events and changes at IP Australia. Choose
from the options to receive updates on when new material is added to the web
site, new trade mark hearings that have been published, or to receive SNIPER
updates. SNIPER is a bibliographic database of journal articles, conference
papers, and other documents about issues in intellectual property.

For Murdoch Staff and Students
- New
books added to the Murdoch library.
The list arranged by the Dewey Classification system and is updated weekly
when the new books display is changed on Tuesday. Items on the new books display
may be requested to be held for loan at the end of the display week. Law numbers
are 340-349 and 364 although relevant multidisciplinary texts may be found
at other numbers.
