Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia The
office of Governor-General was established by the Constitution of the Commonwealth
of Australia. Section 2 of the Constitution provides that "A
Governor-General appointed by the Queen shall be Her Majesty's representative
in the Commonwealth..."
The Council of Australian Governments (COAG)
The
Council of Australian Governments (COAG) is the peak intergovernmental forum
in Australia. COAG comprises the Prime Minister, State Premiers, Territory
Chief Ministers and the President of the Australian Local Government Association
(ALGA). The then Prime Minister, Premiers and Chief Ministers agreed to establish
COAG in May 1992.
