DVDs and Videos

Murdoch Campus

The DVD and Video collection is located on North Wing Level 2. High use DVDs and Videos are located in the Reserve collection in NW Level 3.

Finding DVDs and Videos

To locate specific items, please search the Catalogue by title. To find DVDs and videos on a topic, it is best to do an Advanced Search under Any Field and then limit your search to the material type Video/Film/DVD.

A list of feature films and other performing arts DVDs at Murdoch Main Campus and Rockingham RCC Library is also available.

TVNews & RequestTV

TVNews and RequestTV are Screenrights licenced databases that provide students and staff of Murdoch University access to all programs broadcast by the free-to-air TV channels. You are able to view the videos online or order a copy for the library's collection. See the Guide to using TVNews and RequestTV for more information.

Viewing DVDs and Videos

Two group viewing rooms are available in the Learning Common area on North Wing Level 2. Additional players are located near the DVD and Video collection. A further player is located in Reserve. Ask at the Reserve Desk on North Wing Level 3 for headphones to use with all players.

Loans

Most DVDs and Videos are available for loan by all patrons except Murdoch College students. Screenrights recordings can only be borrowed by Murdoch University staff and students.

Loan limit: maximum of 2 videos at any one time
Loan period: three days. Please note: Reserve loan rules apply to DVDs and videos held in the Reserve Collection. Patrons ineligible to borrow from Reserve may view DVDs in Reserve (apart from Screenrights recordings).
You must borrow from the Loans Desk
When leaving the Library, ask loans staff to pass the video around the gate for you
Renewals: DVDs and Videos may be renewed up to 2 times
Returns: through the chutes, as for other items
Overdue penalties: 10 points per day

Bookings

Murdoch Staff wishing to book DVDs and videos for screening: please complete the DVD and Video Booking Request Form.
Students who wish to book DVDs or videos please contact the Loans Supervisor at Enquiry and Lending Services.
DVDs and videos currently on loan can be requested and placed on hold via the Library catalogue.

Rockingham Campus

DVDs and videos are available for loan to all Library members. Video and DVD players are located on Level 2.

Loan period: 4 weeks for videos and DVDs in the general collection, 1 day for those in Reserve.

Peel Education Campus

DVDs and videos are available for loan to students and staff from Mandurah Senior Campus, Murdoch University and Challenger TAFE only. Video and DVD palyers are located behind the glass partition as you enter the Library.

Loan Period: 4 weeks
Screenrights videos are not available for loan.

Lectopia

You may show any of the Library's videos and DVDs in a live tutorial or lecture, but there are copyright restrictions if the lecture is being recorded in Lectopia or any other recording system.

Most commercially produced film materials may not be copied: Screenrights licenced recordings can be used in Lectopia.

Screenrights recordings, and other Lectopia friendly AV resources, are identifiable by a green sticker on their cover.
