Obtaining Information from other LibrariesUsing Other Libraries (OUA Students)While Murdoch University provides full library services for the Murdoch units you are enrolled in, you may also wish to use another library closer to home. Please contact them for details about the services available and any fees (which are your responsibility).Using Other Libraries (Reciprocal Borrowing for External Students)External students may apply for reciprocal borrowing privileges at a university library closer to where you live or work. These privileges may provide a convenient way for you to obtain a number of your required resources. You may also be able to use some of the resources and facilities available at these libraries. Academic Libraries in Western AustraliaAs a Murdoch student you may borrow from the Rockingham Regional Campus Community Library or the Peel Campus library and request items to be sent from the Murdoch campus. Murdoch students are eligible for reciprocal borrowing rights at other tertiary institutions in Perth (University of WA, Curtin, Edith Cowan University, University of Notre Dame and from July 2005 all the libraries at TAFEWA ). See Western Australian University Libraries Reciprocal Borrowing Scheme for information on how to apply for borrowing rights and details about special rules and conditions that apply to each library. Go to the library of your choice with your Murdoch ID card AND proof that you are currently enrolled at Murdoch (e.g. printout of enrolment for current year). Australian and Overseas Academic LibrariesA list of other libraries, throughout Australia, to which you may apply for membership is accessible on the Web at http://www.caul.edu.au/ula/. You should apply directly to these libraries. You will need photo ID and proof of your current Murdoch enrolment.
For all other libraries, please use the application form to apply for a letter of introduction. Complete the relevant personal details, and add the names and addresses of the libraries you wish to use. We will then send you the appropriate letter(s) of introduction to present at the libraries you have specified.
You should remember that reciprocal borrowing and access to resources and facilities is a privilege that is granted at the discretion of the host library. Access to some electronic resources may not be permitted due to licensing restrictions. Any misuse of privileges granted to you may result in your borrowing rights being revoked. Using the Document Delivery ServiceIf the material you want is not held by Murdoch Library you may request it from another library using LIDDAS. Any queries external students have regarding document delivery should be made to the External Section of the Library. We charge you the amount the supplying library charges us. Please see Document Delivery list of charges.
