Library Services for OUA Students

Registering for Library Services

All students who are enrolled in OUA courses or units at Murdoch University for the current study period are entitled to Library services from Murdoch University Library.
OUA students enrolled in Murdoch units may use the Library’s External Library Services regardless of how close they live to the Murdoch Campus Library.

Please refer to Library Services for External Students for further information on what's available for External and OUA Students.

Getting an ID/Library Card

OUA students do not require a Murdoch ID/Library card unless they plan to borrow in person from Murdoch Library. If you require a Library card please request this in person from the IT Help desk in the Library or by submitting an ID/Library Card application form.

Using Other Libraries

While Murdoch University provides full library services for the Murdoch units you are enrolled in, you may also wish to use another library closer to home. Please contact them for details about the services available and any fees (which would be your responsibility).

OUA Students not Enrolled in Murdoch Units

The university running your course should be able to provide all of your library services including access to databases. However, you may use Murdoch University Library and if you wish to borrow books join as a Community Member.

FAQs

How do I join the Library?

Once your enrolment is processed you automatically become a member of Murdoch University Library which entitles you to undergraduate borrowing, external library services and access to databases and readings on ECMS (ereserve).
If you wish to borrow you must request your Murdoch ID card.

What unit materials will the Library send me?

Murdoch University expects students to purchase essential textbooks and Unit Readers. In addition, many recommended readings are available through ECMS (ereserve) and you can log on to these using your Murdoch Username and Password. Most unit readings are available on ECMS, however, it is recommended that you purchase the Unit Reader so you have access to all readings (copyright compliance means that not all readings can be digitised). You can request further readings that you find in the Library’s catalogue and these will be supplied digitally to your desk top or sent in the post if you do not have Internet access. Please see your posted unit materials for copies of past exam papers.

I need to use LITE, how do I login?

To find LITE go to http://wwwlib.murdoch.edu.au/lite/.
LITE is accessed through WebCT – to begin LITE click on the appropriate option and you will then see the "Log in to WebCT @ Murdoch" screen, where you will need to enter your WebCT ID and Password to begin.

What’s the best way to get help to find references for an essay?

Use Ask a Librarian to email one of the Library’s Reference Librarians, or if its in the afternoon/evening you could try chatting to the Online Librarian.

How can I give feedback about Murdoch’s Library service to OUA students?

We welcome your comments, there is a Feedback link from our Web site. Alternatively, email Jean McKay, Manager, Liaison Services.
