Binding

Murdoch theses can be submitted for binding at the Collection Services Enquiry Desk, Level 2 in the Murdoch Campus Library. Rockingham and Peel students and staff should contact library staff at their own campus library. More information...

Additional binding services are provided by Murdoch Print's Library Copy Centre, located in the Library on the Murdoch Campus.
Heat binding is available on request at Rockingham and do it yourself spiral binding is available at Peel.

Cafe's

There are two cafe's situated in the Murdoch Campus Library.

  • Sir Walter's Cafe (named after Sir Walter Murdoch) is located in the courtyard in the centre of the library. More information ...

Curriculum Resources Centre (CRC)

The Curriculum Resources Centre (CRC) is located within the School of Education in the Education & Humanities Building,
Room no. 2.20 on the Murdoch Campus.

Peel Library

The Peel Education Campus Library is co-located with Mandurah Senior College and Challenger TAFE at the Peel Education and TAFE Campus at Carleton Place in Mandurah.

Rockingham Library

The Rockingham Regional Campus Community Library is a joint venture between City of Rockingham, Challenger TAFE and Murdoch University. It is located on Dixon Road, Rockingham.

The Veterinary Branch Library is located in Room 2.14 of the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Building on the Murdoch Campus.

Partner Libraries

Safety Bay/Warnbro Library

Safety Bay is the Safety Bay Public Library. This is located at 197 Safety Bay Road, Safety Bay, near the intersection with Rae Road. The phone number is 9527 3338.
Warnbro is the Warnbro Community Library. It is located in Swallowtail Parade, Warnbro, near the intersection with Grand Boulevard. The phone number is 9593 4608.
Only members of the Safety Bay Public Library and the Warnbro Community Library may borrow items from these libraries.

Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia (DAFWA)

DAFWA is located at 3 Baron-Hay Court, South Perth (9368 3333). Murdoch University Library has entered into a reciprocal arrangement with the DAFWA Library which means Murdoch staff and students may borrow from their collection. Take your staff/student ID card and proof of current employment/enrolement to the DAFWA Library. You may borrow up to 2 items at a time, for 4 weeks unless recalled.

Computers, printers and photocopiers

Computers

Computer workstations which are available for students and staff to access electronic resources. More information...

  • Peel Campus - Murdoch computers are in the far right hand corner as you enter the library. Other computers are available for use

Printers

It is possible to print from the all computers, microform readers and catalogue terminals within the library.

Photocopiers

Photocopiers on the Murdoch Campus are located here. You may request assistance at the Enquiry or Reference Desk.
At Rockingham, photocopiers are located on both Level 1 and 2. A colour photocopying service is available on request.
At Peel, two photocopiers are available, one colour and one black and white, located on the far wall straight ahead as you enter the library.
Advice and services are available from the Library Copy Centre on the Murdoch Campus (Learning Common, North Wing 3).

Disabilities services

Murdoch University Library provides a range of services and facilities for people who have a disability or medical condition.

These include study rooms containing specialised equipment.
  • Murdoch campus - South Wing 3 of the Library on the Murdoch Campus. The room contains a closed circuit television, Kurzweil Reading Machine, a Perkins Brailler, lowered photocopier, height adjustable tables, ergonomic equipment and text enlarger word processor
  • Rockingham campus - Level 1

Exam papers

Past exam papers for the current and previous 5 years are available in electronic format. The papers are listed under the unit code in use at the time of the exam. Archival copies of earlier exam papers are held in the Library’s Special Collection.

Not all exam papers are made available; if the paper you need is not listed, it has not been released.

The Internet access card reader is used for transferring money from your photocopy card to your internet quota account.

Library catalogues

The Library catalogue can be accessed from any computer that has internet access. From the Library homepage, click on Catalogue to do a search. Alternatively, if you are a Murdoch Library registered user (including Murdoch staff and students), try out My Library for the ability to save searches and to review and modify your loans.

Lost property

If you have lost property while in the Library:
  • Murdoch campus - ask at the Enquiry Desk
  • Rockingham campus - ask at the Loans Desk
  • Peel campus - ask at the Circulation Desk
If the lost item is not there, or you lost property elsewhere on campus, ask at the Security Office, Facilities Management. This is located at the North East corner of Banksia Court, near the Library (vehicle access via car park 8).

Microforms and readers

Many valuable materials are held in the Library as Microforms - either Microfilm or Microfiche. Check the catalogue to find the precise call number, as the material is arranged by call number order within its groups.
  • Murdoch campus - these materials and the reader/printers are held, in most cases, on South Wing 1 in the last room on the left hand side as you walk along from the foyer.
  • Rockingham campus - Level 2

A copy of every thesis submitted to the Library is held in the Library’s Special Collections. PhD and Masters by research theses submitted from 2003 onwards are mostly available through the Australian Digital Theses project. More information...

Newspapers

Check the catalogue for newspaper holdings. Some newspapers are available online. More information...
  • Murdoch campus - The current editions of many newspapers are located in the newpaper area on Learning Common Link 3 in the Reference Collection. Back issues for some newspapers are available in microfilm located on South Wing 1 .
  • Rockingham campus - Level 1
  • Peel campus - the current week of the West Australian and Australian newspapers are held on the stand near the new magazine display

  • Murdoch campus - copies of the Perth White and Yellow Pages are available at the Reference Desk, Learning Common North Wing 3.
  • Rockingham campus - located in the Reference Collection

All Reference materials have R at the beginning of the call number in the catalogue. They are not for loan.

The Reserve Collection includes high use items, recommended by teaching staff as required reading for their courses.

Return books

  • Murdoch campus - return book chutes are at the enquiry desk, which is straight ahead of you as you enter the library. An after hours return chute is in the outside wall, between the main entrance doors and Kadjininy Cafe.
  • Rockingham campus - please return items to the Loans Desk
  • Peel campus - return chutes are located at the Circulation Desk, before you walk through the security gates

Video and DVD players

  • Murdoch campus - The video and DVD collection is located on North Wing 2 at the far left corner past the computers. There are some players in the same area, and group viewing rooms are situated close by on North Wing Level 2. Ask at the Enquiry Desk on Learning Common North Wing 3 for headphones
  • Rockingham campus - Level 2
  • Peel campus - behind the glass partition as you enter the Library
