EndNote
What is EndNote?
EndNote is personal bibliographic management software for Windows and Macintosh systems
that:
- Acts as a reference manager i.e. you can store and manage all your references in a
database.
- Acts as a bibliography maker i.e. you can use your EndNote stored references to create
bibliographies automatically in your word processor (both in-text and reference lists), for theses,
papers, and essays. These bibliographies can be formatted in a myriad of styles.
- Allows you to search some Internet databases (those compliant with the
Z39.50 communications protocol) directly from within the EndNote software.
EndNote X1.0.1
EndNote version X1 (also known as EndNote 11) is now available for Windows and Mac OS X.
Please note:
- EndNote X1.0.1 is not backwardly compatible with EndNote 7 or earlier. If you intend to collaborate with peers who are already using version 7 (or earlier), then you should not install or upgrade to version X - alternatively they should consider upgrading to version X1.
- If you are upgrading to EndNote X1, ensure that you install EndNote X1.0.1 which is an update patch for EndNote version X1. It contains several system enhancements and bug fixes.
- For a list of "What's new in EndNote X1?", please refer to the information made available by the University of Queensland at
http://www.library.uq.edu.au/faqs/endnote/new_in_endnoteX1.html.
- The EndNote X1 manual will be installed as an online (PDF) copy during installation of the software
.
- For further information on EndNote visit the official EndNote web site.
Problems with EndNote Version 8
Due to technical problems with the EndNote version 8 software on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms, and consultation with colleagues at other universities, the Library strongly recommends that EndNote users do not install and use EndNote 8.
For a detailed description of issues with EndNote 8 please see
http://www.library.uq.edu.au/endnote/new_in_endnote8.html
Where can you get the EndNote Software?
Murdoch University centrally funds a
university-wide site licence agreement for the EndNote
bibliographic software for PC and Macintosh platforms. This covers all registered staff and
students of Murdoch University at both the South Street and Rockingham campuses. It also
covers all registered staff/students for their home usage.
Staff and students should contact IT Service Desk in the Library to obtain a
copy of the EndNote software. External students may need to send your requests to ill@murdoch.edu.au.
